School Starts again SOON!

School starts back up August 2nd here in Laveen, so remember those School Zones while driving

The summer seems to have come and gone, which means school will be back in session very soon. August 2nd, to be exact, for most schools here in Laveen.

Laveen Elementary School District has a FLYER on their starting date and a Teacher Meet-and-Greet.

Betty H. Fairfax and Cesar Chavez High Schools will also both begin classes on August 2nd.

Parents, time to get those kids out of the house again; Sports fans, football is almost upon us (go Cardinals!); and Arizonians, cool weather is right around the corner (I promise!).

Announcement: SW Corner of 51st ave. and Baseline

Construction has begun on a brand new L.A. Fitness

Many of you have probably passed what looks like some construction going on at the Southwest corner of 51st Avenue and Baseline, next to Walgreens. Well, it's not your imagination.

The people have spoken and have been heard - Construction is underway for a brand new L.A. Fitness. If timetables remain intact, construction should be completed by the end of 2010.

There are some other projects in the works for that area, but are not solidified at the moment. Stay tuned for more updates.

Thank you to everyone who helped at the 58th BBQ!

The 58th Annual Laveen Pit BBQ has come and gone and I think it is safe to say that we all had a LOT of fun! We sang the "Rain, Rain, Go Away" song and Mother Nature cooperated to give us what turned out to be a beautiful day for a barbecue.

We can't stress enough how amazing it is when an ENTIRE community comes together to put on an event such as this. It takes hundreds of volunteers and hundreds more volunteer hours to make the magic happen, so from the LCC to all you out there that pitched in even a moment...Thank you.

We will have some great info from the BBQ soon - Don't forget to check back!
